Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about our fees, how we work, and the parts of the immigration process people ask about most.
These answers describe how this firm works and what the published Home Office process requires. They are general information, not advice on your own circumstances - for that, book a consultation.
About the firm
Is Stonebridge Legal Solutions regulated?
Yes. Stonebridge Legal Solutions Limited is authorised and regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) under registration number F202208988, at Level 3 (Immigration, Asylum and Protection) - the highest of the three IAA levels. You can confirm this on the IAA's public adviser register. The company is separately registered at Companies House under number 14359957; the two numbers are different registers and are not interchangeable.
Where are your offices?
We have two offices. The London office is at Office 12, 4th Floor, Boardman House, 64 Broadway, Stratford, London E15 1NT. The Birmingham office is at Sylhet Business Centre, 537a Coventry Road, Birmingham B10 0LL. Consultations can also be held by telephone or video call if you cannot travel to either office.
What areas of immigration do you cover?
Sponsor licence applications, renewals and compliance; Skilled Worker and Health and Care Worker visas; student and graduate routes; visitor visas; spouse, partner and family applications; indefinite leave to remain and settlement; British citizenship; and appeals and administrative reviews. If a matter falls outside what we can advise on, we will say so at the consultation rather than take it on.
Fees and payment
How much does a consultation cost?
A 30-minute consultation is £80 plus VAT, which is £96 in total. A 60-minute consultation is £120 plus VAT, which is £144 in total. The figure you pay at booking is the VAT-inclusive one. Every other service on our fee schedule is also published with VAT shown separately.
Are your fees fixed?
We work on a fixed-fee basis and confirm the fee in writing before any work begins. The published schedule is a guide; a bespoke quotation follows the initial consultation, because a matter that is complex or urgent may be charged at a higher rate than one that is straightforward. Our fees do not include Home Office application fees, the Immigration Health Surcharge, or other third-party disbursements.
Do your fees include the Home Office application fee?
No. Home Office fees, the Immigration Health Surcharge, priority service charges, translation, courier and any other third-party costs are separate from our professional fee and are paid directly by you. We will tell you what these are expected to be as part of the written quotation.
Can I change my mind after instructing you?
Yes. You have 14 days from signing your Client Care Letter to cancel without penalty. Any refund is reduced by third-party costs already incurred on your behalf. The full terms are on our Terms of Service page.
Booking an appointment
How do I book a consultation?
Use the booking form on the appointments page, or the chat assistant on any page. You choose a date and time, tell us which service your enquiry concerns, pay the consultation fee and upload your payment receipt. You will receive a confirmation email once the booking is recorded.
What should I bring or send before the consultation?
Your passport or travel document, any current or previous UK visas or Biometric Residence Permits, any Home Office correspondence about your case, and - if your matter involves work - your Certificate of Sponsorship or job offer. Sending these in advance means more of the consultation is spent on your questions.
When are you open?
Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm, and Saturday 10:00am to 2:00pm. Consultation slots are offered on weekdays. If you contact us outside these hours we will reply on the next working day.
Applications and process
How long does a UK visa application take?
Processing times are set by the Home Office, not by us, and they vary by route and by the country you apply from. The Home Office publishes current guide times for each route and these are the only reliable figures. Priority and super-priority services are available on many routes at an additional Home Office fee. We will give you the published timescale for your specific route at the consultation.
Can you guarantee my application will be approved?
No, and no regulated adviser can. The decision rests with the Home Office and depends on the facts of your case and the evidence submitted. What we can do is tell you honestly whether your case meets the published requirements, what evidence strengthens it, and where the genuine risks lie - including when our view is that an application is unlikely to succeed.
My visa application was refused. What are my options?
Depending on the route and the refusal notice, the options are usually an appeal, an administrative review, a judicial review, or a fresh application. Which of these is open to you - and which is sensible - depends on the wording of your refusal and the deadline stated on it. Those deadlines are short and are strictly enforced, so book a consultation promptly and bring the refusal notice with you.
How do I check whether an employer holds a sponsor licence?
Use the sponsor licence checker on this site, which searches the Home Office register of licensed sponsors by company name. Check this before accepting a job offer that depends on sponsorship. Our copy of the register is updated regularly but the official Home Office register is always the authoritative source.
If something goes wrong
How do I make a complaint?
Write to us at info@stonebridgelegal.co.uk setting out what went wrong. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 working days and give you a full written response within 15 working days. If you are still unhappy, you can refer the complaint to the Immigration Advice Authority. The full procedure, including the IAA's contact details, is on our complaints procedure page.
What do you do with my personal data?
We use it to advise you and to run your matter, and we keep it for as long as our regulatory and legal obligations require. We do not sell it. Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, and in some circumstances ask us to erase it. Our privacy policy sets out each right, our lawful bases, and how to make a request.
Still have a question?
A 30-minute consultation with an IAA-regulated adviser costs £80 + VAT (£96 total).
